 The underwriting department has an immediate opening for someone who can demonstrate the WCF values to join their team as a senior underwriter, risk. This is a full-time, exempt position that works out of WCF's Sandy, Utah headquarters.


An underwriter applies quantitative and qualitative analysis along with sound underwriting principals to evaluate new and renewal large account risks. The incumbent manages a book of business for growth, profitability, and retention. The underwriter initiates and makes in-person sales and stewardship calls to agents. The person in this position provides a thorough, documented risk analysis on new and renewal accounts leading to a recommendation on coverage terms and premium.



 The most qualified candidate will have: 

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or related field.
  • At least seven years of workers compensation underwriting experience; multiline underwriting experience preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of state / NCCI workers compensation manuals, guidelines, rating elements, bureau's and the competitive landscape.
  • Experience with loss sensitive rating programs.
  • CPCU, ARM, CIC or similar certifications preferred.
  • Expert skills in Microsoft Office Suite, excel experience required.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, verbal and written.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, analytical skills and a self-starter who works with a sense of urgency.
